The short answer is no – if they have their temporary drivers license they are covered under your current policy, as long they’re driving your vehicle with someone supervising that has a valid drivers license. However, when they do get their official drivers license you do have to put them on your policy as part of your agreement with the insurance company. You may see an increase in your rate when you add your teen on your policy. But don’t worry, this too shall pass.
